Freak You: Goodroom Embrace Remix

Sometimes you only need darkness and a stupid amount of Bass; top that off with me some good vocals and nice synth hook and you're getting close to heaven.

Freak You's remix of Embrace by Goldroom is a great example. Be sure to also check out their track 'There You Are' a bit further down which features Bright Light Bright Light. It bounces through with a rhythm that's impossible to stay still to.

Sit back. Listen. Enjoy.

Y.O.U: Volvic EP

Its 10.08 Sunday morning and I have already been awake for 3 hours or so. Couldn't sleep any longer.

Thankfully I spent my morning listening to music; In particular the music of Y.O.U. This is the sound of Manchester based Elliot Williams (Also of Editors). His tracks are amazing, oozing synth and cool from every orifice to fill your ears and mind with 'that feeling' that only a great track can.

The depth of his music is immense and you can really tell his attention to detail; the little touches, those tiny bleeps far in the background that are each as important as the vocals in the forefront of the track. Speaking of the vocals, they're great, quite remind me of Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip.

Below is his debut EP 'Volvic' which was released May 30th on 'Play It Again Sam'. Personal favourite is 'You Are Everything' , but the rest of the EP is amazing too. Thankfully we share the same city of Manchester so I look forward to catching this guy live in the near future!

Circa Waves

Hailing from Liverpool, 'Circa Waves' are a 4 piece indie guitar band. Having only formed in the summer of last year, things are certainly moving quick. They have already landed themselves as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record of the week and the bloggersphere / general Internet is buzzing with the tracks they leave in their wake. One to listen out for.

Wolf Alice: Moaning Lisa Smile Video

'Moaning Lisa Smile' is a great track from Wolf Alice, and its video was released this week. Its a small but neat parable of rejection and triumph, flourishing with some of the more interesting characters of society.

No matter how much you listen it never seems to grow old; Wolf Alice have a grunge sound you feel as though you know already and it fits at home perfectly. If you ever get chance I highly recommend you see this band live, or at the very least have a listen to the rest of their catalogue, you wont be disappointed.

We're Back!

It has been a while since any posts were added to the site, but in the last few months I bought a house and got married! Its been a great year so far but now its time to settle back to some normality, which means new music, new bands and new acts. Perfect Mixtape will be back to its usual format of bringing you the music we love and hoping that it resonates with you in the same way.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Maximo Park: New Single & Tour Details

2014 is going to be a busy year for Maximo Park. With a new album 'Too Much Information' due for release on February 3rd, the band have confirmed the release of their single 'Leave This Island' on 24th January.

The song is at a slower pace than some of their earlier work, but non of the energy that made the band famous has been lost. Starting off with a simple drum beat and ripple of synths, the track lifts as it progresses and carries you through. In the track we clearly hear a band that knows what they're doing, without having to shout to be heard.

For the music video the band worked with artist Matt Stokes to create a short that looks at the life of a real 'Urban Hermit' living in East London. 'Leave this Island' compliments the short perfectly and becomes a soundtrack to the uncompromising promo video.

You can watch the track on the link below (hopefully will be on this site soon).

This week I heard

As my Sunday dinner digests I thought I would share a few of the songs I really like at the moment. They're all great tracks that fail to get old, no matter how much I press repeat.

Caveman - Shut You Down

The Courteeners - Are You In Love With A Notion

City And Colour - Harder Than Stone
